10 , 2002 FT. PIERCE, FL -- The Washington College softball team dropped a pair of games to Division II St. Thomas Aquinas tonight in Ft. Pierce, FL. The final scores were 6-1 and 5-0, respectively. The games were the first of the season for the Shorewomen (0-2) who are slated to play a total of four double-headers in the Sunshine State this week. The Spartans improved to 4-0 with the wins. The Shorewomen were within one run for most of the first game. Sophomore pitcher Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) limited St. Thomas Aquinas to two runs through six innings before giving up four runs in the seventh. Sophomore catcher Theresa Pyzik (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) went two-for-three with an RBI in the game, while senior outfielder Michelle Rodney (Rock Hall, MD/Kent County) double and scored WC's only run of the day. In the second game, Washington was limited to just three hits - one each from Rodney, freshman shortstop Madeleine Perry (Arlington, VA/Georgetown Day, DC), and sophomore outfielder Natalie Liccketto (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights). Senior pitcher Allison Weisbrod (Montville, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic) gave up four runs in the fourth and another in the seventh. The Shorewomen return to action in Ft. Pierce tomorrow with an 11:00 a.m. double-header against Lincoln College. |
