12, 2002 WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- The Washington College softball team fell to 0-4 with a pair of losses at Palm Beach Atlantic, an NAIA Division II school, Tuesday night in West Palm Beach, FL. The Sailfish improved to 8-7 with the victories. Palm Beach Atlantic won the first game, 5-1, and the second game, 11-4. The Sailfish held a 1-0 lead until the sixth inning of game one when they tacked on four runs. Sophomore catcher Theresa Pyzik (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) doubled in the opener for WC. In the second game, Palm Beach Atlantic jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Shorewomen rallied to cut the lead to 5-4. The Sailfish scored the final six runs of the game, however, to pull away in the contest. Freshman Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) went three-for-four with an RBI in the game for Washington. Senior outfielder Michelle Rodney (Rock Hall, MD/Kent County) doubled and drove in a run. The Shorewomen return to action in Ft. Pierce, FL Thursday with a 10:00 a.m. double-header against Husson. |
