WC Gets First Two Wins of 2002
Bahus Goes 6-for-7 in Twin Bill

FT. PIERCE, FL -- The Washington College softball team wrapped up its trip to Florida by earning its first two wins of the season today. The Shorewomen (2-4) defeated Husson (0-10) 11-1 and 6-0 in a double-header. Junior secondbaseman Julie Bahus (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Spalding) went a combined six-for-seven at the plate in the twin bill.

In game one, Bahus went four-for-four with two runs scored to lead the WC onslaught. Sophomore thirdbaseman Renee Springston (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) went three-for-three with a triple and an RBI. Sophomore catcher Theresa Pyzik (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) finished two-for-four with a double and three RBI and freshman firstbaseman Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) went two-for-four with a double.

Sophomore Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) pitched four scoreless innings of five-hit ball before being relieved by junior Alexis Stapanon (Lexington Park, MD/Great Mills) who gave up one hit and one run in one inning. The game was called after five innings due to the ten-run mercy rule.

In game two, Bahus went two-for-three at the plate, Stapanon went two-for-two with a run scored and an RBI, and senior outfielder Michelle Rodney (Rock Hall, MD/Kent County) went three-for-four with an RBI and a run scored. Senior Allison Weisbrod (Montville, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic) pitched the first six innings, allowing only one hit and striking out seven. Bahus pitched the seventh inning and allowed one hit.

The Shorewomen return to action Monday with a 2:30 p.m. double-header at home against Villa Julie.
