2, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College Shorewomen evened their Centennial Conference record at 3-3 and improved their overall record to 6-7-1 with a pair of wins over visiting Haverford (4-14, 0-4) this afternoon. The Shorewomen won the first game, 8-1, and the second game, 9-1. Freshman Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) had a monster afternoon, going seven-for-eight in the twin bill with five RBI and three runs scored. Her performance upped her batting average this season to an impressive .523. In the first game, Braverman went four-for-four with two RBI and two runs scored. Freshman shortstop Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) went two-for-four with two runs scored in the game, while Sophomore Renee Springston (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) went two-for-four with two RBI and a run scored. Sophomore outfielder Natalie Liccketto (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) went two-for-three with a run scored in the opener. Senior Allison Weisbrod (Montville, NJ/Mt. St. Dominic) got the win, allowing three hits, two walks, and one run in seven innings, while striking out eight batters. Braverman finished three-for-four with three RBI and a run scored in the second game. Scimeca and junior secondbaseman Julie Bahus (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Spalding) each went two-for-four with an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) picked up the victory in the second game, allowing five hits, no walked and just one unearned run in five innings. The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. twin bill against Delmarva-area rival Wesley College. |
