20, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College Shorewomen closed out their 2002 season by splitting a pair of Centennial Conference games with visiting Dickinson this afternoon. The Shorewomen won the first game, 12-4, but lost the second, 8-4. WC finished the season 11-18-1 overall and 6-10 in conference play. Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, the Shorewomen erupted for 11 runs in that frame. All 11 runs scored with two outs in the inning. Sophomore Theresa Pyzik (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) went three-for-four with four RBI and two runs scored in the win. Freshman Andrea Braverman (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) finished two-for-three with two runs scored, while classmate Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) was two-for-four with an RBI and two runs scored. Senior Michelle Rodney (Rock Hall, MD/Kent County) went two-for-three with an RBI, a run scored, and two stolen bases. Sophomore Fallon Dillon (Grasonville, MD/Queen Anne's County) allowed six hits to in the win and struck out six. Dickinson jumped ahead 8-0 in the second game, scoring three runs in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth. The Shorewomen scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the fifth. Rodney doubled, knocked in a run, and stole a base in game two. Junior Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton Area) had a pair of RBI and a run scored. |
