2008 DOVER, DE -- Host Wesley College topped visiting Washington College, 3-0, in the final game of the Wolverine Kick-Off Classic tonight at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 0-2 with the loss. Jessica DeTore put the Wolverines on the board at the 5:32 mark with an unassisted tally. Kelsey Poulson made the score 2-0 at 19:36 to round our the first-half scoring. Wesley's Gina Orrben upped the margin to 3-0 when she scored off a pass ahead by Julia DeFelice at 46:54. Freshman goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) played the first half in goal for Washington, making six saves and allowing two goals. Junior goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) played the second half, making three saves and allowing one goal. Kim Fearnbach made one save en route to the shutout win for Wesley. Wesley held a 20-3 advantage in shots in the game and recorded all four of the game's corner kicks. The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. game at Stevenson. |
