7, 2008 OWINGS MILLS, MD -- Host Stevenson University defeated visiting Washington College, 7-1, in a non-conference women's soccer game this afternoon in Owings Mills, MD. The Mustangs improved to 3-1 with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-3 with the loss. Stephanie Eyler had two goals and an assist for Stevenson, which held a 3-0 lead at halftime. Kim Moxley added a pair of goals of her own, while Samantha Novy and Tonia Cristino each scored a goal. The Mustangs' first goal of the second half was scored as an own goal. Senior forward Sarah Yarbrough (Golden, CO/Arvada West) accounted for the Shorewomen's goal when she scored on an indirect kick at the 52:43 mark. Stevenson held a 38-6 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks in the game. Freshman goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made 14 saves for the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with their home opener, a 7:00 p.m. game against Alvernia. |
