Blazers Rally Past Shorewomen, 3-1
Devaud Scores in Loss for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Hood College scored three times in the second half to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit en route to a 3-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Blazers improved to 7-4-1 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 1-9 with the loss.

Washington got on the board at 24:59 when freshman defender/midfielder Gabby Devaud (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) scored off the first collegiate assist from senior midfielder Aliina Lahti (Cheyenne, WY/Central). The 1-0 held up throughout the half. Hood held a 6-5 edge in shots in the period.

The Blazers evened the score at the 61:47 as Carlie Colella scored off a pass from the end line by Jessica Devine. Cara Jordan scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal when she collected a loose ball and dribbled past a defender to give Hood a 2-1 edge at 69:43. Jordan scored again on a breakaway at 81:36 to put the game away.

Freshman goalkeeper Tori Ripple (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll) made seven saves for the Shorewomen. Rachelle Buhrman played the first half in goal for the Blazers and made two saves. Kirsten Cacciola played the second half and also made two saves.

Hood held a 13-4 edge in shots in the second half and a 19-9 margin for the game. The Blazers also had a 9-6 advantage in corner kicks in the contest.

The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Muhlenberg.
