Gophers Frustrate Shorewomen, 1-0
Grier Turns Away Three Shots

TOWSON, MD -- Sisley Pumilia received a pass from Sarah Lodge and netted the lone goal of the match in the first half as host Goucher College downed visiting Washington College, 1-0, in a non-conference women's soccer tilt today at Beldon Field. The Gophers improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Shorewomen fall to 0-5 with the loss.

Pumilia got the pass from Lodge and slipped the shot past junior goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) at the 30:49 mark.

Goucher's Kellen Matthews turned away eight shots in the victory, while Grier tallied three saves.

The Shorewomen held a 12-7 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Johns Hopkins in their Centennial Conference opener.
