Saints, Wolverines Win Again in Classic
Beskid Scores in Loss for Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Marymount University and Wesley College were winners again on day two of the Washington College Kick-Off Classic women's soccer tournament on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. Marymount (2-0) was a 4-0 winner over the College of Notre Dame (0-2), while Wesley (2-0) bested the host Shorewomen (0-2), 2-1.

In the opener, Marymount scored all four of its goals in the first half. Carrie Schneider scored off an assist from Dana Zalowski at 7:24 to open the scoring. Elise Gebauer netted an unassisted goal at 17:51 and then assisted on a goal by Blair Parker 43 seconds later. Katie Mahon knocked in a goal at 26:24 to complete the first-half scoring.

The Saints held a 38-2 advantage in shots and an 11-0 edge in corner kicks in the game. Marymount goalkeeper Lauren Harris picked up the shutout without making a save. Ashleigh Johnson made 14 saves for Notre Dame.

In the second game, both Washington and Wesley scored on their first shots of the game and then did not score again for the rest of the first half. Washington got on the board 48 seconds into the contest when senior midfielder Erin Beskid (Centreville, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) scored off an assist from sophomore defender/midfielder Kali Brown (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown). The assist was the first of Brown's collegiate career. Wesley evened the score shortly thereafter when Kyle Savidge scored off a feed from Heather Johnson at 2:27.

The Wolverines scored the game-winner at the 85:54 mark when Kyle McDevitt headed in a corner kick from Katie Chiolan.

Wesley held an 18-7 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks in the game. Brittany Block made five saves for the Wolverines, while sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made 11 stops for the Shorewomen.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Villa Julie.
