5, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Tonia Cristino scored on her first three shots of the game and finished with four goals overall as visiting Villa Julie downed host Washington College, 6-1 in women's soccer action this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Mustangs improved to 2-1 with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 0-3 with the loss. Rose Phelan found Cristino in the box for her first goal at 13:05. Cristino then booted in a ball that got away from Washington sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) at 28:49 and won a 50-50 ball, dribbled to the goal and scored again at 35:35 to make it 3-0 in favor of the Mustangs. Cristino scored her fourth goal of the game at 71:01 and Laura Robinson tacked on the Mustangs' fifth goal off an assist of Kelly Townley at 76:08. Townley rounded out the Villa Julie scoring with a goal off an assist from Meghan Smith at 86:06. Senior midfielder Erin Beskid (Centreville, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) put Washington on the board at 89:47 when she scored off a throw from freshman midfielder Katie Weida (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Country Day). The assist was the first of Weida's collegiate career. Villa Julie held a 24-14 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Casey Brown made five saves for the Mustangs, while sophomore goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made nine saves for the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. game at Methodist. |
