Bears Stifle Shorewomen, 3-0
Grier Matches Career High of 10 Saves

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Host Ursinus College jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and went on to post a 3-0 Centennial Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Collegeville, PA. The Bears improved to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 3-4-1 and 0-2.

Ursinus got on the board just 4:14 into the contest when Jess Gunzelman scored off a cross from Melissa Reuter. The Bears went up, 2-0, on a 20-yard shot by Amanda Leatherman at 29:12. Gunzelman scored her second goal of the game off a rebound at 53:04 to push the lead to 3-0.

Ursinus held a 28-1 advantage in shots and an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Junior midfielder Heather Roberts (Bel Air, MD/Maryvale Prep) accounted for Washington's shot.

Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made 10 saves in the loss for Washington, matching her career high.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Swarthmore.
