Garnet Trump Shorewomen, 4-1
Yarbrough Scores for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Swarthmore College topped hosted Washington College, 4-1, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Garnet improved to 7-1-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-5-1 and 0-3.

Swarthmore struck first when Natalie Negrey scored an unassisted goal at 7:52. The Shorewomen evened the score at the 15:43 mark when junior forward Megan Russell (Federalsburg, MD/Seaford Christian Academy, DE) passed the ball ahead to sophomore forward Sarah Yarbrough (Golden, CO/Arvada West), who dribbled to the goal and scored. The Garnet took a 2-1 lead before halftime when Negrey passed the ball behind WC freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) and to Katie Kanuka who tapped to ball in at 40:08.

Kanuka assisted on Swarthmore's first second-half goal, passing ahead into the box to Danielle Tocchet, who scored at 53:28. Negrey rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 84:46.

Anna de Regt made one save and allowed one goal for Swarthmore in 76:44. Kristen Traband played the final 13:16. Grier made 11 saves for Washington.

Swarthmore maintained a 26-3 advantage in shots. Washington recorded the game's only corner kick.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Johns Hopkins.
