Profs Excuse Shorewomen, 5-1
Yarbrough Scores Goal for Washington

GLASSBORO, NJ -- Host Rowan University scored the first five goals of the game en route to a 5-1 women's soccer victory over visiting Washington College tonight in Glassboro, NJ. The Profs, who advanced to the 2005 NCAA Division III Tournament, improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 1-1-1 with the loss.

Kaitlyn Florio opened the scoring for the Profs, firing in a goal at 19:41 off an assist from Karen Patruno. Florio scored her second goal at 36:12 when she stole a clearing pass and sent a shot off the post and into the net to make the score 2-0. The margin would widen to 3-0 before halftime as Shannon Phillips scored on a failed clear at 43:28.

Rowan extended the lead to 4-0 on a goal by Patruno, who knocked in a goal off a rebound following a shot by Emilie Wilson at 52:53. Aimee Yerkes scored the Profs' fifth goal when she headed in a cross from Kaeleigh Brock at 71:51.

The Shorewomen got on the board at 78:41 as sophomore forward Sarah Yarbrough (Golden, CO/Arvada West) scored on a chip from 35 yards out.

Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made eight saves in the loss for Washington, while Alicia Mannino made one save for the Profs. Rowan held a 26-6 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Shorewomen return to action one week from today with a 4:00 p.m. game at Chestnut Hill.
