2006 ALLENTOWN, PA -- Host Muhlenberg College scored two goals in each half of a 4-0 Centennial Conference women's soccer victory over visiting Washington College this afternoon in Allentown, PA. The Mules improved to 10-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 3-10-1 and 0-8. Muhlenberg quickly took a 1-0 lead as Maura Hendsey scored off a loose ball following a corner kick at 2:12. Elena Rabinowitz made it 2-0 with a goal off a long pass from Andrea Dello Russo at 18:11. Both of Muhlenberg's second-half goals came early in the period. Dello Russo scored off a rebounded shot from Kasey Hacker at 45:34. Hacker then headed in an unassisted goal at 47:39. Shauna Henley played the first half in goal for the Mules and made three saves, while Kayla Boisvert made two saves in the second half. Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made 14 stops for the Shorewomen. Junior forward Megan Russell (Federalsburg, MD/Seaford Christian Academy, DE) registered three shots for Washington. Muhlenberg held a 26-7 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Bryn Mawr. |
