McDaniel Trumps WC, 3-2
Russell, Beskid Score for Shorewomen

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Host McDaniel College defeated visiting Washington College, 3-2, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The game was the season finale for both teams.

The Green Terror (7-10, 4-5 Centennial) got on the board at 10:30 when Sarah Wallace scored off a Kelly Neel assist. The Shorewomen (3-13-1, 0-10) tied things up as junior forward Megan Russell (Federalsburg, MD/Seaford Christian Academy, DE) scored off a feed from junior midfielder Heather Roberts (Bel Air, MD/Maryvale Prep) at 14:10. McDaniel regained the lead at 20:23 when Megan Mattson scored on a penalty kick.

The lead increased to 3-1 just 51 seconds into the second half when Wallace scored off an assist by Melanie Armstrong at 45:51. Washington junior midfielder Erin Beskid (Centreville, MD/Sts. Peter & Paul) tallied the final goal of the game off an assist from sophomore forward Sarah Yarbrough (Golden, CO/Arvada West) at 85:12.

Michelle Mullen made seven saves in the win for McDaniel, while WC freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made three stops.

Washington held a 14-8 advantage in shots, but McDaniel maintained a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.
