Fords Stump Shorewomen, 4-0
Grier Makes Nine Saves in Loss

HAVERFORD, PA -- Host Haverford College topped visiting Washington College, 4-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon in Haverford, PA. The Fords improved to 5-6-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-8-1 and 0-6.

Haverford opened the scoring at 11:44 when Sarah Morris scored off an assist from Monica Stegman. The Fords quickly pushed the lead to 2-0 on a goal by Annie Turner at 13:16. Haverford increased the lead to 3-0 before halftime as Stegman picked up her second assist of the game, this time on a goal by Therese Verkerke at 32:18.

Katie Johnston-Davis tallied the lone goal of the second half at the 88:21 mark off an assist from Turner.

Junior forward Nicole Amorosi (Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) notched two shots for Washington.

Lindsay Festa made one save for Haverford in the shutout. Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made nine saves for the Shorewomen.

Haverford enjoyed a 23-6 advantage in shots and a 4-0 edge in corner kicks in the game.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Franklin & Marshall.
