2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Gettysburg College topped host Washington College, 4-0, in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Bullets improved to 9-2-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-7-1 and 0-5. Despite firing off 17 shots in the first half, Gettysburg did not get on the scoreboard until Emily Harper scored off an assist from Colleen Stuart at 41:30. Harper pushed the lead to 2-0 less than three minutes later, scoring off an assist from Kathryn Poster at 44:02. The Bullets extended the lead to 3-0 at the 69:26 mark when Katie Myers scored off a corner kick from Leslie Hynes. Erin Miller added Gettysburg's fourth goal off an assist from Whitney Odell at 84:00. Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made 11 saves in the loss for Washington. Gettysburg held a 29-1 advantage in shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks in the game. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Haverford. |
