16, 2006 CARLISLE, PA -- Host Dickinson College scored four goals in the first half and another five in the second half en route to a 9-0 shutout of visiting Washington College in the Centennial Conference women's soccer opener for both schools today in Carlisle, PA. The Red Devils improved to 3-4 overall with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 2-2-1 with the loss. Jessica Griggs and Lisa Nichols each scored two goals for the Red Devils, who netted four goals in a five-minute span during the second half. Sarah Casey added one goal and two assists, while Courtney Anderson, Emily Pease, Gina Lengeling, and Christy Arndt each tallied one goal. Danielle Fried recorded one assist for Dickinson. Ashley Damewood played the first half in goal for the Red Devils, while Kailyn Hartmann played the second half. Each Dickinson goalkeeper made one save. Freshman goalkeeper Caroline Grier (Kennett Square, PA/Sanford School, DE) made 10 saves for Washington. Dickinson held a 25-3 advantage in shots and an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Goucher. |
