Shorewomen Tie Swarthmore, 1-1
Dulany Scores Goal, Russell Makes 10 Saves

SWARTHMORE, PA -- Visiting Washington College scored the game-tying goal in the 66th minute to come away with a 1-1 double-overtime tie against host Swarthmore College in a Centennial Conference women's soccer game this evening in Swarthmore, PA. Washington sophomore Megan Russell (Federalsburg, MD/Seaford Christian Academy, DE) made 10 saves in her first collegiate game as a goalkeeper.

The Garnet (2-6-3, 0-2-2 Centennial) took a 1-0 lead when Danielle Tocchet scored off an assist from Sarah Hobbs at 31:46. The Shorewomen (1-5-1, 0-2-1) evened the score at the 65:13 mark when senior defender Katie Dulany (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) headed in a corner kick off an assist from freshman midfielder Sarah Yarbrough (Golden, CO/Arvada West).

Each team got off a total of four shots between the two overtime periods, but neither squad could convert. Russell, who normally starts at forward for Washington, made two saves on shots by Tocchet at 105:21 and 107:40, respectively. Washington senior forward Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) got off the last shot of the game, which went wide left, at 109:11.

Eight of Russell's 10 saves in the game came in the second half and the two overtime periods. Lauren Walker made one save in goal for Swarthmore, which held a 17-12 advantage in shots in the game.

Each team recorded four corner kicks in the contest.

The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins.
