McLoughlin Gives WC OT Win
Bradley Ties Career Point Record
in Victory Over Rutgers-Newark

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior defender/midfielder Colleen McLoughlin (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute and senior midfielder Stephanie Bradley (Weston, MA/Kimball Union Academy) tied the school record for career points as the host Washington College women's soccer defeated Rutgers-Newark, 2-1, in overtime this afternoon at Shriver Field.

Rutgers-Newark (4-10-1) scored the only goal of the first half when Alison Phillips dribble past a defender to chalk up an unassisted marker at 22:37. The Scarlet Raiders held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the first period and recorded the only corner kick of the first half.

Washington (2-9-1) turned things around in the second half, outshooting Rutgers-Newark, 10-2, in the period and holding an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks in the second half. Just a minute after an offside call disallowed an apparent Washington goal, the Shorewomen knotted the score at 1-1 when McLoughlin found sophomore midfielder/forward Heather Roberts (Bel Air, MD/Maryvale Prep), who headed in the ball for a goal. The goal was the first of her collegiate career.

McLoughlin scored the game-winner at 93:25 when she put back a shot from Bradley that had caromed off the post. Bradley was credited with an assist on the play, bringing her career point total to 38 and tying the school mark set by Meghan Hartzell from 2002-2003. The assist was also Bradley's 12th of her career, giving her sole possession of second place all-time in career assists at Washington and putting her one assist away from tying that record.

Ashley Woodruff made nine saves in the loss for the Scarlet Raiders, while washington freshman goalkeeper Amanda Frushour (Westminster, MD/South Carroll) made five saves in the victory.

The Shorewomen held a 14-11 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks in the game.

The Shorewomen will host Centennial Conference opponent Muhlenberg Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
