September 7, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Rowan University topped host Washington College, 2-0, in women's soccer this afternoon at Shriver Field. The Profs improved to 3-0 on the season with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 1-2 with the loss. Jamie Weist scored the only goal of the first half of an assist from Aimee Yerkes at 7:14. The score remained 1-0 until Kaitlyn Florio scored off an assist from Karen Patruno at 77:50 to push the lead to two goals. Freshman goalkeeper Amanda Frushour (Westminster, MD/South Carroll) made 15 saves for the Shorewomen in the loss. Gabby Ditchey recorded three saves en route to the shutout for Rowan. Rowan held a 26-3 advantage in shots and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks in the game. The Shorewomen return to action with their Centennial Conference opener, a 1:00 p.m. home game against Dickinson on September 17th. |
