September 15, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Villa Julie College scored six times in the final 25 minutes to pull away from host Washington College en route to a 7-3 women's soccer victory this afternoon at Shriver Field. Kelly Gresdo tallied a hat trick for the Mustangs, who improved to 3-2 with the win, while senior midfielder Carly Hankins (Pedricktown, NJ/Penns Grove) scored one goal and assisted on another for the Shorewomen, who slipped to 1-3 with the loss. Washington took a 2-0 lead into halftime after junior midfielder/forward Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) scored on a header at 17:03 and junior midfielder Stephanie Bradley (Weston, MA/Kimball Union Academy) booted in a goal from 30 yards out at 42:03. Hankins assisted on Mozzer's goal. The Mustangs got on the board at 50:19 as Gresdo scored on a rebound off an assist from Nicole Herrman, but the Shorewomen pushed the lead back to two goals at 56:35 when Hankins scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Christine Chop (Asan, Guam/Guam). Villa Julie tied the score with goals by Rose Phelan and Gresdo at 65:31 and 68:14, respectively. The Mustangs took the lead for good at 80:00 when Lindie McDonough scored the first of what would prove to be four Villa Julie goals in a five-minute span. Gresdo scored off an assist from Lizzy Lang at 82:49 and Herman and Phelan scored unassisted goals at 83:31 and 84:51, respectively. Villa Julie held a narrow 23-22 advantage in shots. Both teams finished with four corner kicks. The Shorewomen open Centennial Conference play Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. game at Dickinson.
