September 1, 2004 BALTIMORE, MD -- Host Notre Dame (MD) scored two goals in the final 17 minutes of play to come away with a 3-1 win over visiting Washington College this afternoon in the 2004 women's soccer opener for both schools. Junior midfielder/forward Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) scored Washington's only goal of the game. Amber Hale gave the Gators a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 25:15 mark. Brandi Colledge and Andrea Gabrelaik picked up assists on Hale's goal. Mozzer tied things up in the second half with an unassisted goal at the 67:38 mark, but Michelle Burice gave Notre Dame the lead for good by heading in a goal at 73:37. Hale followed with an insurance goal at 84:20. Courtney Zgraggen made six saves in goal for the Gators, while senior goalkeeper Jennifer Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) made seven for the Shorewomen. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. game against Mount St. Mary (NY) at the Days Inn/Puma Classic, hosted by Gwynedd-Mercy.
