4, 2003 SWARTHMORE, PA -- The Washington College women's soccer team slipped to 4-5 overall and 0-3 in Centennial Conference play with a 6-1 loss at Swarthmore this afternoon. Senior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) scored her seventh goal of the season in the defeat. Hartzell's goal came off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Steph Bradley (Weston, MA/Kimball Union Academy) and put WC up 1-0 4:06 into the game. Swarthmore (6-5, 2-2) would come back to score three times before halftime, however, to push the lead to 3-1 at the break. The Garnet Tide scored three more goals early in the second half to provide the final margin of victory by the end of the 62nd minute. Natalie Negrey led Swarthmore with three goals. The Garnet Tide held an 18-1 advantage in shots. The Shorewomen's next game is slated for Wednesday, a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference contest at Johns Hopkins.
