9, 2003 WASHINGTON, DC -- The Washington College women's soccer team slipped to 2-2 on the season with a 2-1 loss at Catholic University this afternoon in Washington, DC. The Cardinals improved to 2-1 with the victory. Neither team scored in the first half, but Jenny Aspinwall put the hosts up with a goal early in the second, scoring at the 49:48 mark. The Cardinals increased their lead to 2-0 at 73:05 when Aubrey Maki knocked in a cross from Stephanie Hare. WC senior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) knocked in a loose ball at 88:51 to cut the lead to one, but the Shorewomen were unable to tie the game up in the final minute. Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) made 11 saves for Washington. Catholic held a 19-9 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
