4, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Sophomore midfielder Steph Bradley (Weston, MA/Kimball Union Academy) tied the school record with three goals in a game as the Washington College Shorewomen shut out visiting Notre Dame (MD), 4-0, this afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Shriver Field. The win was the first collegiate victory for first-year WC head coach Suzie Friedrich. Bradley got the Shorewomen (1-1) on the board at the 17:55 mark when she sent a booming corner kick off the body of a defender and into the Notre Dame goal. Washington went up 2-0 at 21:12 when freshman forward Kimberly Kann (Shady Side, MD/Southern) scored her first collegiate goal. Bradley increased the lead to 3-0 before the half, scoring an unassisted goal at 34:37, and knocked in the only goal of the second half at the 50:02 mark off an assist from senior midfielder Jen Cox (Monkton, MD/Hereford). WC junior Jennifer Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) made nine saves en route to the shutout victory, while Catherine Vecchioni made 17 in a losing effort for the Gators (0-2). The Shorewomen held a 25-9 advantage in shots. Bradley's hat trick matched the school record set on two previous occasions in the program's first five seasons. Courtney Riso set the record in a 13-0 win over Alvernia on September 9th, 2000, and Lynn Pistone equaled the feat in a 10-1 victory over Trinity (DC) on September 18th, 2002. The Shorewomen are back in action Sunday with a 2:00 p.m. game at Villa Julie. Box Score
