WC Upends Ursinus in Overtime
Mozzer Scores Game-Winner at 99:03

COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Freshman forward Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) scored the game-winning goal at 99:03 to lift the Washington College Shorewomen to a 3-2 overtime win against host Ursinus in Centennial Conference women's soccer action this afternoon. Impressive play by sophomore goalie Jen Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) helped the Shorewomen, who led for only 18 seconds in the contest before the final goal, remain in the game.

Ursinus (4-6-1, 0-2-1 Centennial) scored the only goal of the first half when, at the 35:20 mark, Aubrey Andre nailed a long shot off an assist from Courtney Barth. The Shorewomen (7-4, 2-1 Centennial) evened things up at the 52:11 mark when junior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) worked past her defender and scored her tenth goal of the season.

WC briefly took the lead at 69:50 when Mozzer executed a textbook cross to find sophomore forward/midfielder Lynn Pistone (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph's), who booted in a goal. The Bears tied things up just 18 seconds later, however, when Kim Paulus scored off a deflected shot from Jess Hychalk. Neither team could score the remainder of the period, though Mozzer kicked a breakaway shot wide of the goal in the closing minutes.

With just 57 seconds left in the first overtime, at the 99:03 mark, Mozzer wound up scoring the game-winner anyway, booting in a long, high-arcing shot into the Ursinus goal off an assist from junior midfielder Jen Cox (Monkton, MD/Hereford).

Chapman finished with 11 saves and she deflected and intercepted numerous crosses into the box. Her play helped offset a 31-10 advantage in shots for Ursinus.

At 7-4 overall, the Shorewomen are three games over .500 at the latest point in the season in program history. The only other time WC has been three games over .500 was early in 2000, when the squad started 4-1.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. conference home game against Swarthmore.
