18, 2002 WASHINGTON, DC -- Sophomore forward/midfielder Lynn Pistone (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph's) tied a school record with three goals to lead the Washington College women's soccer team to a 10-1 win over host Trinity (DC) College this afternoon. Three other Shorewomen also scored multiple goals in the victory. Neither team scored until the 32:02 mark when WC senior midfielder/forward Sarah Polhamus (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) knocked in a goal off a feed from junior midfielder Jen Cox (Monkton, MD/Hereford). Pistone then scored her first goal of the game at 44:35 to give the Shorewomen a 2-0 lead at the break. WC took over the game in the second half. Junior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season in the 48th and 51st minutes, respectively to push the lead to 4-0. Cox assisted on Hartzell's second goal. The Tigers (4-2) got on the board in the 55th minute on a goal by Michelle Carter, but WC erupted for six goals in the final 28 minutes of the contest. Freshman forward Laura Mozzer (Tolland, CT/Tolland) scored the first of her two goals in the 62nd minute off a pass from freshman forward Steph Bradley (Weston, MA/Kimball Union Academy). Cox followed with a goal off a Hartzell pass in the 68th minute, Pistone scored her second goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder/forward Carly Hankins (Pedricktown, NJ/Penns Grove) in the 74th minute, and Cox scored again in the 80th minute. Pistone tied the school record of three goals in a single game in the 84th minute, off a pass from Polhamus. (Courtney Riso set the record in a 13-0 win over Alvernia on September 9th, 2000.) Mozzer rounded out the scoring in the 88th minute off an assist from senior defender Betty Weller (Sudlersville, MD/Queen Anne's County). WC junior Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) and sophomore Jennifer Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) each made five saves in the win. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday their Centennial Conference home opener - a 2:00 p.m. game at Dickinson. Box Score
