5, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Swarthmore College rallied from 2-0 first-half deficit to defeat Washington College, 3-2, in overtime, today at Kibler Field. The Garnet improve to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in Centennial play, while the Shorewomen slip to 7-5 and 2-2. The Shorewomen got on the board first, at 7:09 when freshman midfielder Colleen McLoughlin (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) beat her defender and knocked a shot into the low corner. WC took a 2-0 lead at 35:20 on a long goal by junior midfielder/back Sara Mackeverican (Allentown, PA/Parkland), who scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder/forward Carly Hankins (Pedricktown, NJ/Penns Grove). Swarthmore got on the board before halftime when Tanya Hahnel scored at the 42:11 mark. The score remained 2-1 until the 76:49 mark when Valerie Maulbeck tied things up with an unassisted goal. The Garnet won the game at 98:01 when Katey McCaffrey served up a corner kick, Swarthmore's only corner kick of the game, that led to a goal by Ele Forbes. Swarthmore goalie Catherine Salussolia made 11 saves in the win, which helped make up for the Shorewomen's 20-11 advantage in shots on goal. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Johns Hopkins. Box Score
