21, 2002 CARLISLE, PA -- The Washington College women's soccer team lost its Centennial Conference opener, 4-1, this afternoon at Dickinson College. The loss drops the Shorewomen to 4-4 overall, while Dickinson improves to 6-2 and 1-0 in conference play. Dickinson took a 1-0 lead at the 13:00 mark Alyssa Carlow scored off an assist from Courtney Scally. The Shorewomen tied things up when sophomore forward/midfielder Lynn Pistone (Hammonton, NJ/St. Joseph's) scored her fourth goal in two games at the 22:10 mark off an assist from junior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown). At the 24:00 mark, with the score still tied, WC's starting keeper, junior Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) came out of the game with an injury after making seven saves in the early going. She did not return to action. Dickinson broke the tie at 48:00 when Amy Montalbano scored a goal off an assist from Allison Marciniak. The Red Devils added another goal at 52:22 when Carlow scored again, this time off a pass from Suzanne Eshelman. Karen Berggren scored the final goal off a pass from Scally. The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Bryn Mawr. Box Score
