10, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College women's soccer team slipped to 3-2 this season with a 4-1 loss to visiting Catholic this afternoon at Shriver Field. The Cardinals improved to 2-0 with the win. The Shorewomen got on the board first, when senior midfielder/defender Kelly McClure (Tucson, AZ/Sabino) scored on a direct kick at 14:09. Catholic tied things up at 24:06 when Brianne Palmieri knocked in a goal. The Cardinals took the lead at 39:47 when Jenny Aspinwall scored the first of her three goals on the day. Aspinwall pushed the lead to 3-1 at the 68:25 mark when she beat a pair of WC defenders to score. She added her final goal at 76:09 to round out the scoring. Shore junior goalkeeper Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) did make 12 saves, including several sensational stops, while playing all but the last 3:50 of the contest. The Shorewomen are back in action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Stevens Tech. Box Score
