4, 2002 BALTIMORE, MD -- Despite peppering the opposing defense with more than 20 shots for the third time in as many games this season, the Washington College Shorewomen found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 final this afternoon at The College of Notre Dame (MD). The loss is the first of the season for the Shorewomen (2-1), while the host Gators improve to 2-0 with the win. All three Notre Dame goals were unassisted. Heather Karbonski opened the scoring at 13:46. The score remained tied until well into the second half, when Megan Haskins scored at 57:35. Becky Sullens added the final goal at 82:37. CND goalkeeper Veronica Zientak made ten saves while facing 21 shots en route to the shutout, while WC junior Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made six saves in the loss. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home game against Villa Julie. Box Score
