2, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College sophomore back Sara Mackeverican (Allentown, PA/Parkland) scored her fifth goal in her last five games to lead the Shorewomen (3-6-2) to a 1-0 victory over visiting Wesley College (5-7) in a battle of Delmarva-area rivals this afternoon at Kibler Field. After over 58 minutes of scoreless soccer, Mackeverican found the upper left corner of the Wesley goal to lift Washington to its first-ever win over the Wolverines. Both goalkeepers played well in the game. Wolverine junior Christine Holmes (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown) made 17 saves, while Washington sophomore Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made nine while recording her second career shutout. Washington held an 18-9 advantage in shots on goal. Wesley had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Catholic University. Box Score
