2, 2001 SCRANTON, PA -- The Washington College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Villa Julie today in the consolation game of the University of Scranton Invitational. Washington sophomore goalkeeper Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made 14 saves while recording the first shutout of her collegiate career. The two teams went the full 90 minutes of regulation and another 30 minutes between the two extra frames without a goal. Villa Julie (0-1-1) held a 19-16 edge in shots on goal, while both teams managed three corner kicks. Freshman forward Jordan Rogers (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) accounted for six of the Shorewomen's shots, while junior defender Betty Weller (Sudlersville, MD/Queen Anne's County) got off three. Higdon's Mustang counterpart, VJC junior goalkeeper Gina Cinquegrani (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) made 11 saves. The tie, the first in WC women's soccer history, means that each team wins a share of third-place at the Tournament. The Shorewomen (0-1-1) return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. game under the lights at Marymount. Box Score
