26, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College women's soccer team's quest for a third consecutive win came up just short today as the Shorewomen (2-5-2, 1-2 Centennial Conference) fell to Ursinus College, 2-1, at Shriver Field. Sophomore back Sara Mackeverican (Allentown, PA/Parkland) scored WC's goal and has now tallied at least one goal in each of the past three games. After a scoreless first half, Mackeverican's goal gave Washington a 1-0 lead at the 46:03 mark. Junior midfielder/forward Sarah Polhamus (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) picked up the assist on the goal. Ursinus (2-5-2, 1-3) tied the game at 51:22 when freshman midfielder Aubrey Andre (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) scored. The Bears' game-winner came off the foot of junior forward Abbey Smith (Ardsley, PA/Abington) who booted a perfectly placed ball into the upper-right hand corner of the net from 25 yards out at the 68:29 mark. Junior midfielder Courtney Barth (Reading, PA/Oley Valley) and junior forward Kim Paulus (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) were each credited with an assist on Smith's goal. The Shorewomen return to action with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game Saturday at Swarthmore. Box Score
