5, 2001 ARLINGTON, VA -- In the first three seasons of Washington College women's soccer, the Shorewomen did not play to a single draw. Now, for the second consecutive game WC has wound up with a tie. Today, the Shorewomen (0-1-2) played to a 1-1 overtime final at Marymount University. The game remained scoreless until the 75:07 mark when Marymount sophomore forward McKinsey Thawley (Vienna, VA/Bishop O'Connell) knocked in a goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Courtney Copeland (Haymarket, VA/Stonewall Jackson). The Shorewomen evened the score just 81 seconds later when freshman forward Jordan Rogers (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) fired in a goal off a throw-in from freshman back Amy Bromwell (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll). The goal marked the first collegiate points for both players. Washington sophomore goalkeeper Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made nine saves in the game and has a .958 save percentage over the past two games. Marymount held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks and a 20-14 edge in shots on goal. The Shorewomen return to action Friday with their home opener against Stevens Tech at 4:00. Box Score
