18, 2001 BALTIMORE, MD -- Although they came out on the losing end of the contest, the Washington College Shorewomen put forth their most competitive performance in their third-ever meeting with Johns Hopkins, falling 2-0 under the lights in Baltimore in a Centennial Conference game. The halftime score was 0-0, marking the first time that the four-year-old Washington program has held the Blue Jays scoreless in a half. Hopkins freshman forward Jen Baldwin (Medway, MA/Medway) had a hand in each of the Blue Jays' goals. She assisted on a goal by freshman back Kathleen Turley (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) at the 47:34 mark and scored a goal of her own at 55:48. Junior midfielder Jill Minger (Durham, OR/St. Mary's) picked up the assist on Baldwin's goal. Washington's solid defensive effort was bolstered by the play of sophomore back Samantha Hunt (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) who helped limit the Blue Jays to seven shots in the first half. Shorewoman sophomore goalkeeper Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) recorded seven saves before being relieved by freshman Jennifer Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes), who added a pair of saves. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home conference game against Muhlenberg. Box Score
