4, 2001 WASHINGTON, DC -- The Washington College women's soccer team dropped to 3-7-2 on the season with a 2-1 loss at Catholic University today in non-conference action. The Cardinals improved to 4-7 with the win. Washington got on the board first on an unassisted goal by junior midfielder/forward Sarah Polhamus (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) that bounced over the keeper's head and into the back of the net 21:28 into the game. The goal was the first of the season for Polhamus. Catholic tied the score before halftime, however, when freshman midfielder Amanda Griffiths (Huntington, NY/St. Dominic) scored off a rebound at 39:29. In the second half, Griffiths found sophomore back Kellie Falvey (New Rochelle, NY/Ursuline School) with a cross for the game-winner at 70:53. Sophomore goalkeeper Mandy Higdon (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made nine saves in the loss for the Shorewomen who were outshot 10-5 in the second half. Washington returns to Centennial Conference play with a 2:00 Saturday game at Gettysburg. Box Score
