Head Coach: Suzie Friedrich
Suzie Friedrich was named the head women's lacrosse
and soccer coach at Washington College in July 2003. Friedrich's
background in athletics is varied and extensive, encompassing
experience in playing, coaching, teaching, and administration.
From 1992-2001, Friedrich worked at St. Paul's School
for Girl's in Brooklandville, MD, serving in several capacities.
She was the Athletic Director at St. Paul's from 1997-2000 and
the Physical Education Department Head from 1997-2001. During
her time at St. Paul's, she coached lacrosse at the junior varsity
and varsity level as well as basketball, field hockey, and golf.
She also taught Physical Education and Health for grades 5-12.
Friedrich's most recent coaching stop prior to Washington
was at Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills, MD, where she coached
junior varsity lacrosse and middle school basketball during the
2002-03 school year. She has also coached at Morristown High School
and Collingswood High School in New Jersey and at the Penn State,
Merestead, and Washington College lacrosse camps. She served as
the United States Women's Lacrosse Association National Chair
for Schoolgirl All-Americans from 1993-1997 and the USLWA Baltimore
Schoolgirl Chair from 1993-1998.
Friedrich played four seasons of varsity lacrosse
at Penn State, playing on an NCAA finalist team in 1982 and semifinalist
teams in 1983 and 1985. She played for the United States Women's
Lacrosse Squad from 1989-1991, the Central District 1 Women's
Lacrosse Team from 1985-1992, and the South District Women's Lacrosse
Team from 1993-1997. She was the Chairwoman of the Central District
from 1991-1992. At the time of her hire, Friedrich had been playing
competitive soccer for seven years as a goalkeeper in the Baltimore
Open League Association.
Friedrich earned a Bachelor of Science from Penn
State in 1985.
