#15 Shorewomen Race Fours at Occoquan Sprints
Two Varsity Four Boats Win Races

LORTON, VA -- The 15th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team had all three of its boats entered in the varsity four finish in the top two of their respective heats at today's Occoquan Sprints in Lorton, VA. Washington's "B" boat and "C" boat each won their respective heats, while the Shorewomen's "A" boat finished second in its heat.

Sophomore Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) served as coxswain of the Shorewomen's "B" boat, which won its five-boat hear in 8:02.4, finishing nearly six seconds ahead of the next finisher, Loyola (8:08.244). Sophomore Caroline Perry (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, sophomore Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) was in the three seat, senior Courtney Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the two seat, and sophomore Emily Hofler (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) was the bow.

Senior Shelley Holtmann (Laurel, MD/Atholton) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "C" boat, which won its five-boat heat in 7:51.8, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the next finisher, George Mason (8:11.069). Junior Jenna Lapointe (Newark, DE/Newark) sat stroke, sophomore Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) sat in the three seat, junior Carol Funck (Etters, PA/Red Land) was in the two seat, and freshman Sarah Holland (Towson, MD/Notre Dame Prep) was the bow.

Freshman Susanne Vaughn (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "A" boat in the varsity four, which finished second in its five-boat heat in 7:20.2. Maryland won the heat in 7:16.7. Freshman Catherine Black (Kimberton, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) sat stroke, senior Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was in the three seat, junior Jamie Beaber (Littleton, CO/Littleton) sat in the two seat, and freshman Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove) was the bow.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a home regatta against Franklin & Marshall.
