Davenport Named Regional Coach of the Year

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College head coach Dr. Mike Davenport has been named the 2008 Division III Mid-Atlantic Women's Rowing Regional Coach of the Year in a vote conducted by the region's head coaches. Washington won the overall points title at the Mid-Atlantic Division III Rowing Championships last Saturday, is currently ranked 14th in Division III, and boasts the top-ranked varsity eight boat in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Shorewomen's varsity eight is 18-4 overall and 13-0 against Division III varsity boats this spring. Washington's varsity four is 12-6 overall and 4-2 against Division III varsity boats this spring. Both Washington boats won their respective events at Saturday's regional championships.

Davenport is in his 18th season as head coach of the Shorewomen.
