#12 Shorewomen Race Top Teams
Second Varsity Eight Wins Sunday Race in Worcester

WORCESTER, MA -- The 12th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed against five other nationally-ranked teams at a two-day invitational regatta in Worcester, MA, yesterday and today. The Shorewomen's second varsity eight won its race with three ranked teams on Sunday.

On Saturday, Washington's varsity eight finished fourth against New Hampshire, Trinity, and Bates, in 7:00.06. New Hampshire was first in 6:52.76, 10th-ranked Bates was second in 6:56.38, and second-ranked Trinity was third in 6:59.45. Washington's second varsity eight was third of four boats on Saturday in 7:22.13. Trinity's "A" boat was first in 7:14.34, Bates was second in 7:16.48, and Trinity's "B" boat was fourth in 8:05.08. In Saturday's novice eight race, the Shorewomen were third in 7:50.82. Trinity was first in 7:28.34, New Hampshire was second in 7:38.95, and Bates was fourth in 7:55.36.

On Sunday, Washington's varsity eight was third (7:03.50) of six boats in a race with third-ranked William Smith (first place, 6:52.50), sixth-ranked Tufts (second, 6:59.59), 14th-ranked WPI (fourth, 7:05.21), RIT (fifth, 7:07.96), and RPI (sixth, 7:51.01). The second varsity eight won its race in 7:24.60 against sixth-ranked Tufts's "A" boat (second, 7:29.60), third-ranked William Smith (third, 7:37.39), and Tufts's "B" boat (fourth, 7:53.40). The novice eight finished second (8:01.78) in a race against William Smith (first, 7:51.90) and RPI (third, 8:33.93).

Senior Erin Koster (Tranquility, NJ/Newton) served as coxswain of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight. Senior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) sat stroke, senior Jeanne Clark (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) sat in the seven seat, junior Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was in the six seat, senior Megan Walburn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) was in the five seat, senior Amy Uebel (Martinsville, IN/Martinsville) was in the four seat, sophomore Jamie Beaber (Littleton, CO/Littleton) sat in the three seat, freshman Megan Jasion (Somerville, NJ/Somerville) was in the two seat, and sophomore Jenna Lapointe (Newark, DE/Newark) was the bow.

Freshman Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) served as the coxswain of the Shorewomen's second varsity eight. Freshman Caroline Perry (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, freshman Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) was in the seven seat, freshman Lauren Jakubowicz (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) sat in the six seat, sophomore Carol Funck (Etters, PA/Red Land) was in the five seat, sophomore Elizabeth Thorpe (Davis, CA/Davis) was in the four seat, sophomore Maura McLoughlin (Babylon, NY/Babylon) sat in the three seat, junior Courtney Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the two seat, and junior Becca Kain (Hagerstown, MD/St. James School) was the bow.

Freshman Beth Becker (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) served as coxswain of the Shorewomen's novice eight. Freshman Erin McMichael (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) sat stroke, freshman Emily Hofler (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) was in the seven seat, freshman Amy Smith (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) sat in the six seat, freshman Emily Kate Brown (Mickleton, NJ/Kingsway Regional) was in the five seat, sophomore Nicole Van Dyke (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) sat in the four seat, freshman Jill Charles (North East, MD/West Nottingham Academy) was in the three seat, freshman Katie Daudelin (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) sat in the three seat, and freshman Jordan Brown (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff) was the bow.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday at the Mid-Atlantic Division III Rowing Championships in York, PA.
