#15 Shorewomen Post Win at Knecht Cup

CAMDEN, NJ -- The 15th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed at the Knecht Cup Saturday, a regatta hosted by Villanova University and held in Camden, NJ, which was shortened to one day due to impending poor weather on Sunday. The Shorewomen's "A" boat in the Division III varsity eight finished second in its heat in 7:14.3, while the "B" boat was fourth in 7:21.2. Both boats advanced to the finals where the "A" boat was first in 7:13.6 and the "B" boat was fifth in 7:28.0. This was the fourth consecutive year that the Shorewomen have won the Division III varsity eight at the Knecht Cup.

Senior Erin Koster (Tranquility, NJ/Newton) served as coxswain of the Shorewomen's "A" boat in the Division III varsity eight. Senior Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) sat stroke, senior Jeanne Clark (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) sat in the seven seat, junior Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was in the six seat, sophomore Jamie Beaber (Littleton, CO/Littleton) was in the five seat, senior Amy Uebel (Martinsville, IN/Martinsville) was in the four seat, senior Megan Walburn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) sat in the three seat, freshman Megan Jasion (Somerville, NJ/Somerville) was in the two seat, and sophomore Jenna Lapointe (Newark, DE/Newark) was the bow for the Shorewomen's heat. In the final, Walburn moved to the five seat and freshman Lauren Jakubowicz (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) was in the three seat.

Freshman Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) served as the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "B" boat in the Division III varsity eight. Freshman Caroline Perry (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, freshman Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) was in the seven seat, Jakubowicz sat in the six seat, sophomore Carol Funck (Etters, PA/Red Land) was in the five seat, sophomore Elizabeth Thorpe (Davis, CA/Davis) was in the four seat, sophomore Maura McLoughlin (Babylon, NY/Babylon) sat in the three seat, junior Courtney Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the two seat, and junior Becca Kain (Hagerstown, MD/St. James School) was the bow for the Shorewomen's heat. In the final, Courtney Jensen moved to the six seat, freshman Emily Hofler (Baltimore, MD/Mercy) was in the four seat, and Thorpe was in the two seat.

The Shorewomen return to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Worcester Invitational in Worcester, MA.
