WAC Wins Mother and Son Regatta
Shorewomen Sweep Varsity Eights

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College rowing teams defeated the University of Mary Washington, 52-51, to win the Mother and Son Regatta held this morning on the Chester River. Johns Hopkins and Richard Stockton also competed in the regatta, but were not included in the team scoring. Washington's women's rowers won both the varsity eight and second varsity eight races.

The Shorewomen's varsity eight won in 5:58.7, finishing one-half second in front of second-place Mary Washington. "The varsity eight race was one of the most exciting races I've ever seen," remarked Washington head coach Mike Davenport. That finish came in the final race of the day and gave Washington the regatta victory.

The Shorewomen's second varsity eight won its race in 6:07.5, finishing comfortably in front of second-place Mary Washington (6:22.9).

Washington's women's varsity four finished fourth in 6:51.5. The Shorewomen's frosh/novice eight was second in 6:40.2, while the Shorewomen's novice four placed second in 7:29.4. Full results can be found at the end of this release.

Senior Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) served as the coxswain of Washington's first varsity eight. Senior Jennifer Bockmiller (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat stroke, senior Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) was in the seven seat, junior Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA/Conestoga) was in the six seat, sophomore Amy Uebel (Martinsville, IN, Martinsville) was in the five seat, junior Cassie Ann Slentz (Penn Yann, NY/Penn Yan Academy) was in seat four, freshman Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was in seat three, sophomore Megan Walburn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) was in seat two, and senior Sam Hastler (Bel Air, MD/ John Carroll) was the bow.

Junior Katie Cooper (Annapolis, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was the coxswain of Washington's second varsity eight. Junior Jeanne Seeberger (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, sophomore Meg Chapman (Meriden, NH/Lebanon) was in the seven seat, sophomore Blair Haring (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) was in the six seat, junior Betsy Davis (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) was in the five seat, junior Leslie Meredith (Fort Bragg, NC/Lake Braddock, VA) was in seat four, junior Stephanie Gerwitz (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) was in seat three, sophomore Jeanne Clark (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) was in seat two, and senior Sarah Kuhlmann (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) was the bow.

Sophomore Erin Koster (Tranquility, NJ/Newton) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity four, while sophomore Kristen Kulik (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) sat stroke, sophomore Dani Harlan (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) sat in the three seat, junior Sarah Riklin (Bethesda, MD/Walter Johnson) sat in the two seat, and junior Emily Richardson (Whiteford, MD/North Harford) was the bow.

Freshman Ashleigh Genevich (Avon Grove, PA/Avon Grove) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's novice eight. Freshman Ashton Kluttz (Middle River, MD/Roland Park Country) sat stroke, freshman Kelly Spiver (Towson, MD/Loch Raven) was in the seven seat, freshman Katie Juromski (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) was in the six seat, freshman Marian Robbins (Cambridge, MD/Cambridge-South Dorchester) was in the five seat, freshman Nicole Stanton (Columbia, MD/Hammond) was in the four seat, sophomore Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) was in the three seat, freshman Courtney Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the two seat, and senior Jen Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) was the bow.

Freshman Amara Stuehling (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) served as coxswain of the novice four. Freshman Sarah Pierson (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat stroke, freshman Laura Messerly (Highland, MD/River Hill) was in the three seat, freshman Angelycä Jackson (Great Mills, MD/Great Mills) was in the two seat, and freshman Danielle Gleysteen (Highland, MD/Oldfields) was the bow.
