March 26, 2005 ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Washington College women's rowers teamed with the College's men's rowers to finished second of three schools at the annual Caspersen Cup regatta, held this morning on the Severn River in Annapolis, MD. Johns Hopkins won the cup with 33 points, Washington was second with 30 points, and St. John's (MD) was third with 25. The Shorewomen's "A" boat won the women's varsity eight in 7:43. Washington's "B" boat finished second in the race. In the women's varsity four, Washington's "B" boat finished second, while the "A" boat finished third. The Shorewomen were also second in the women's novice eight and third in the women's novice four. Senior Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) served as the coxswain of Washington's "A" boat in the varsity eight. Senior Jennifer Bockmiller (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat stroke, senior Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) was in the seven seat, junior Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA/Conestoga) was in the six seat, freshman Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was in the five seat, junior Cassie Ann Slentz (Penn Yann, NY/Penn Yan Academy) was in seat four, sophomore Amy Uebel (Martinsville, IN, Martinsville) was in seat three, sophomore Jeanne Clark (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) was in seat two, and senior Sam Hastler (Bel Air, MD/ John Carroll) was the bow. Junior Katie Cooper (Annapolis, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was the coxswain of Washington's "B" boat in the varsity eight at the Caspersen Cup. Junior Jeanne Seeberger (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, sophomore Meg Chapman (Meriden, NH/Lebanon) was in the seven seat, sophomore Megan Walburn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) was in the six seat, junior Betsy Davis (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) was in the five seat, sophomore Blair Haring (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) was in seat four, junior Stephanie Gerwitz (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) was in seat three, junior Emily Richardson (Whiteford, MD/North Harford) was in seat two, and senior Sarah Kuhlmann (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) was the bow. Ackerman also served as coxswain of the women's varsity four "B" boat, while Wilsonsat stroke, Ratz was in the three seat, Bockmiller was in the two seat, and senior Rideout was the bow. Sophomore Erin Koster (Tranquility, NJ/Newton) was the coxswain of the varsity four "A" boat, while junior Leslie Meredith (Fort Bragg, NC/Lake Braddock, VA) sat stroke, sophomore Kristen Kulik (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) sat in the three seat, junior Maggie Von Rump (Mystic, CT/Fitch) sat in the two seat, and junior Sarah Riklin (Bethesda, MD/Walter Johnson) was the bow. Freshman Ashleigh Genevich (Avon Grove, PA/Avon Grove) was the cosxwain of the Shorewomen's novice eight. Freshman Ashton Kluttz (Middle River, MD/Roland Park Country) sat stroke, freshman Courtney Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was in the seven seat, freshman Hayley Taylor (Tyaskin, MD/Geneva Academy) was in the six seat, freshman Marian Robbins (Cambridge, MD/Cambridge-South Dorchester) was in the five seat, freshman Katie Juromski (Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) was in the four seat, sophomore Erin Jones (Crofton, MD/Arundel) was in the three seat, senior Jen Chapman (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's & St. Agnes) was in the two seat, and freshman Laura Messerly (Highland, MD/River Hill) was the bow. Freshman Amara Stuehling (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) served as coxswain of the novice four. Freshman Sarah Pierson (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat stroke, freshman Angelycä Jackson (Great Mills, MD/Great Mills) was in the three seat, freshman Danielle Gleysteen (Highland, MD/Oldfields) was in the two seat, and freshman Danielle Aloisio (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) was the bow. The Washington College rowing teams will host the Mother and Son Regatta next week, featuring Mary Washington, Richard Stockton, and Bryn Mawr. |
