Three WAC Boats Go 1-1 in Boston

BOSTON, MA -- The 15th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed in a double-dual regatta today in Boston, MA. Washington's first varsity eight, second varsity eight, and novice eight each went 1-1 at the regatta.

The Shorewomen's first varsity eight lost to Tufts in its first race by 2.16 seconds. Washington finished with a time of 6:47.1 in the race. The first varsity eight then raced against eighth-ranked Wesleyan in the consolation race and won in a time of 6:49.5, beating Wesleyan by 4.2 seconds. Bates was the overall winner of the first varsity eight.

Washington's second varsity eight won its first race over Wesleyan, finishing in 7:06.7. The second varsity eight then lost to Tufts in the final of the event, finishing in 7:13.1 to Tufts' time of 7:00.1.

Washington's novice eight lost to Tufts' third varsity eight in its first race, finishing in a time of 7:36.6. The novice eight then defeated Bates in the consolation, finishing in 7:36.6.

The Shorewomen's varsity four lost to Wesleyan, finishing in 7:55.8 in the only varsity four race of the regatta.

Senior Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) served as the coxswain of Washington's first varsity eight. Senior Jennifer Bockmiller (Westminster, MD/Westminster) sat stroke, senior Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) was in the seven seat, junior Katherine Wilson (Devon, PA/Conestoga) was in the six seat, sophomore Amy Uebel (Martinsville, IN, Martinsville) was in the five seat, junior Cassie Ann Slentz (Penn Yann, NY/Penn Yan Academy) was in seat four, freshman Laura Ratz (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) was in seat three, sophomore Megan Walburn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) was in seat two, and senior Sam Hastler (Bel Air, MD/ John Carroll) was the bow.

Junior Katie Cooper (Annapolis, MD/Archbishop Spalding) was the coxswain of Washington's second varsity eight. Junior Jeanne Seeberger (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) sat stroke, junior Stephanie Gerwitz (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) was in the seven seat,junior Leslie Meredith (Fort Bragg, NC/Lake Braddock, VA) was in the six seat, junior Betsy Davis (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) was in the five seat, sophomore Jeanne Clark (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) was in seat four, sophomore Meg Chapman (Meriden, NH/Lebanon) was in seat three, sophomore Dani Harlan (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) was in seat two, and senior Sarah Kuhlmann (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) was the bow.

Sophomore Erin Koster (Tranquility, NJ/Newton) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity four, while sophomore Kristen Kulik (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) sat stroke, junior Sarah Riklin (Bethesda, MD/Walter Johnson) sat in the three seat, junior Emily Richardson (Whiteford, MD/North Harford) sat in the two seat, and junior Maggie Von Rump (Mystic, CT/Fitch) was the bow.

The Shorewomen will travel to Worcester, MA, tomorrow to take on Holy Cross, WPI, and Clark.
