24, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Members of the Washington College women's rowing team competed in two regattas today. Washington entered one boat in the championship four at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA. The rest of the team hosted the Tapke Chase, held this morning on the Chester River in Chestertown, MD. At the Head of the Charles, the Shorewomen were 19th of 20 boats in the championship four, finishing in 15:39.679. The Head of the Charles features many of the top club and collegiate crews from across the country and around the world. Senior Courtney Ackerman (Marriotsville, MD/Liberty) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's championship four boat at the Head of the Charles. Senior Sam Hastler (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) sat stroke, sophomore Jeanne Clark (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) was in the three seat, senior Beth Rideout (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) was in the two seat, and sophomore Megan Walburn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) was the bow. At the Tapke Chase, Washington's varsity boat finished first of seven boats in the women's eight in 16:56.40. The Shorewomen's novice "A" boat was sixth in 18:31.46, while Washington's novice "B" boat was seventh in 20:43.86. A boat of Washington College alumni was second in the women's eight in 17:27.95 In the women's four at the Tapke Chase, Washington's varsity boat was third in 18:38.40, while the novice "A" boat was fourth in 20:20.46 and the novice "B" boat was fifth in 20:45.64. Junior Katie Cooper (Annapolis, MD/Archbishop Spalding) served as coxswain of Washington's first-place varsity boat in the women's eight at the Tapke Chase. Junior Leslie Meredith (Fort Bragg, NC/Lake Braddock) sat stroke, junior Stephanie Gerwitz (Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) was in the seven seat, senior Jennifer Bockmiller (Westminster, MD/Westminster) was in the six seat, and junior Betsy Davis (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) was in five seat, sophomore Amy Uebel (Martinsville, IN/Martinsville) was in seat four, sophomore Blair Haring (Oley, PA/Oley Valley) was in seat three, junior Emily Richardson (Whiteford, MD/North Harford) was in seat two, and sophomore Meg Chapman (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) was the bow. Sophomore Erin Koster (Tranquility, NJ/Newton) was the coxswain of the third-place varsity boat in the women's four at the Tapke Chase. Sophomore Kristen Kulik (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) sat stroke, senior Sarah Kuhlmann (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) sat in the three seat, sophomore Helen Farr (Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) sat in the two seat, and junior Maggie Von Rump (Mystic, CT/Fitch) was the bow.
