Shorewomen Compete at ECAC's
Two Eights Reach Petite Finals

WORCESTER, MA --The sixth-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed in three events at this weekend's ECAC National Invitational Collegiate regatta in Worcester, MA. Washington's first varsity eight and second varsity eight each reached the petite finals, while the Shorewomen's varsity four advanced to the third level final.

The Shorewomen's first varsity eight placed fourth in its heat in 7:29.672 to advance to the semifinals. Second-ranked Ithaca (7:19.764) was first in the heat, followed by seventh-ranked Trinity (7:25.050) in second and 11th-ranked Vassar (7:27.803) in third. Tenth-ranked Colby finished fifth (7:31.650), while Holy Cross was sixth (7:39.686).

WC's first varsity eight then finished fifth in its semifinal in 7:19.244. Top-ranked Smith (7:08.571) won the race, followed by fifth-ranked Coast Guard (7:11.534) in second and Vassar (7:15.369) in third. Third-ranked Williams (7:16.380) finished fourth, while ninth-ranked William Smith (7:21.598) was sixth.

In the petite final, WC's first varsity eight finished fourth in 7:10.072 to take 10th place overall. Trinity (7:05.687) was first in the race, followed by UC-Santa Barbara (7:06.578) in second and Mercyhurst (7:08.220) in third. Williams (7:10.459) was fifth, while William Smith (7:12.261) was sixth.

Washington's second varsity eight finished sixth in its heat in 8:07.903 to advance to the petite finals. Ithaca was first (7:44.37), Coast Guard was second (7:51.716), Holy Cross was third (7:56.041), 13th-ranked Bates was fourth (8:03.293), and Trinity was fifth (8:04.241).

In the petite final, the Shorewomen's second varsity eight finished third in 7:34.476 to take ninth place overall. Trinity (7:29.913) won the race, followed by Bates (7:29.919) in second. Colby (7:35.387) was fourth, WPI (7:46.751) was fifth, and Vassar (7:47..057) was sixth.

WC's varsity four finished fifth in its heat in 8:26.836 to advance to the third-level final. Clark finished first (8:06.930), Orange Coast was second (8:07.463), and Wesleyan was third (8:08.982). Hamilton finished fourth (8:09.777), while Colby was sixth (8:47.158).

The Shorewomen's varsity four finished second in 8:12.611 in the third-level final to take 14th place overall. Holy Cross won the race in 8:03.672. Rochester (8:17.711) was third, while Colby (8:25.140) was fourth and Massachusetts Maritime was fifth (8:29.547).
