10, 2004 BOSTON, MA --The 11th-ranked Washington College women's rowing team competed at a regatta with host Tufts, Wesleyan, and Bates, on the Malden River in Boston, MA, this morning. The Shorewomen's varsity eight boat went 2-0 in a pair of races. The varsity eight defeated Bates in its first race, finishing in 7:01.0, 11.2 seconds ahead of Bates. The Shorewomen then raced against Tufts, who had defeated Bates by 2.5 seconds. WC came out on top again, finishing in 7:04.6, 6.7 seconds ahead of Tufts. Washington's second varsity eight split its two races. The Shorewomen won by a wide margin over Tufts, completing the 2,000-meter course in 7:13.6. Tufts finished 15.8 seconds back in 7:29.4. The second varsity eight then lost to Bates by 4.2 seconds, finishing in 7:13.5. The Shorewomen's novice eight lost both of its races. The novices finished in 7:55 against Bates, which finished in 7:24.6, and then finished in 8:08.4 against Tufts, which finished in 8:08.4. Next Saturday, the Shorewomen compete at the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ.
